I spoke with Ed Connal from Royal Perth this morning and explained that for various reasons we were struggling to get a full team out for the match on Wednesday with only 7 currently confirmed and one waiting confirmation. He said that they could go ahead with 5 pairs but possibly not 4. I told him that I still had a few people that I could approach to try to get up to 5 and would contact him tomorrow. He agreed with that but said he would check with their secretary. He phoned back shortly later having spoken to their secretary and said that in the circumstances they felt they we should cancel now. I reiterated that I was willing to continue trying to fill the team but he reiterated the view that we should cancel now which I accepted.
