Seniors Stableford -30th. April 2009/Cancelled

A smattering of rain and the promise that it would worsen over the course of the morning resulted in this competition being cancelled.

Some players did go out on the course and will bear witness to the fact that the playing conditions were actually not too bad, albeit that a light drizzle was always present.

Result of Match v Glenisla (Away)

Sadly our away form has not significantly improved over the winter break as we suffered our 2nd away defeat of the year 4 - 2 at Glenisla.

We are getting close with two of the matches we lost going almost to the wire, let's hope for a better result v Murrayshall at home in the first week of May.

ps I repeat my point made at the start of the season and at the Year End bash, All members are welcome to put their names down for the matches if they feel that they would enjoy the challenge. I will be coaxing one or two of the more prominent players whose names never appear on the match name sheets to put themselves forward over the next week or two.

Results of Texas Scramble

Thursday's Texas Scramble was a scramble in more than one sense as I scrambled around to find out whether players were actually coming or not. Out of the 6 groups posted on this site on Wednesday not one remained as drawn.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FIRST TEE TIME IS NINE O'CLOCK, NOT 9.30.

Point made, the winning team on Thursday was

Pat Duffy (20); Ernie Wastell (16) and Alex Sutherland (19) with a gross score of 69, net 60.

Match result from ALYTH - MONDAY 13th April

After a promising start Strathmore Seniors went down 2- 4 to Alyth away. No excuses, the weather turned out fine despite earlier forecasts that rain was the order of the day. The match was played in good spirits and hospitality afterwards was first rate. We don't host Alyth until September when we will be looking to turn the score around as we did last year.

Results Thursday 9th April 2009

Despite the grey clouds surrounding the golf course there was very little rain that fell on the course from 9.00am onwards.

The course was playing long due to the damp conditions but this did not slow the rounds with all groups round in three and a half hours. Unfortunately the withdrawal of almost one third of the field at the last moment meant that the last tee time moved forward and apologies to John Barr who turned up, on time, for his scheduled tee time of 9.52am only to find that all those present earlier were well on their way. Sorry John.

The top results for the day were:

Pat Duffy - 37 points

Alan Morrison - 36 points;

Ernie Wastell - 36 points; and

Ron Haynes - 35 points.
