Seniors' Away Day 2010

Another Year, another golf calendar.

Although we are still some 6 months away from the Away Day in August we still have to come to a decision as to where we want to play, and quickly.

I have contacted 6 golf clubs/centres (7 courses) with varying degrees of success and costs.

Four of the six locations have answered me and two have not, even fter a week of waiting.

The two non respondents are : Drumoig and Whitemoss.

Of those that have replied Ladybank at GBP 45.9 per round for the golf alone has been discarded. This leaves us with 3 venues/4 courses to choose from.

Thornton Golf Club is the most attractive offer with a green fee of GBP 25.00 plus a discount of one free round for every eighth player. i.e. If we have 24 players exactly we have a discount of 12.5% on the golf. If we have 31 players we have a discount of almost 10%. The food works out at GBP11.50 so assuming a turnout of at least 24, but less than 32 we have an all in cost of GBP 33.40 to GBP34.10 each.

I understand that the Strathmore Ladies have played this course and were very positive about it.

Kinross Golf Courses

An all in price list has been provided for the package requested for both course.

12/24 golfers the Bruce GBP 38.50; The Montgomery GBP 43.50
25/36 golfers GBP 36.50; GBP 41.50

Feed back on these courses less than glowing.

Balbirnie

30 or less GBP 30.00 plus GBP 11.00 for refreshments = GBP 41.00

30+1 GBP 5.00 discount on the golf as a 'Seniors Discount' i.e GBP 36.00 for the day.

The only other difference with Balbirnie is that whereas the other clubs above can provide us with our preferred tee off schedule starting at 10.30 am, Balbirnie would be from 10.45am onwards, this due to bookings already made by other parties.

Please let me have your preference by end of play on Thursday the 25th of February by use of one of the brown envelopes and a note left at the shop for Ernie Wastell- Seniors Away Day 2010

All the best.

Ernie,

Montgomery at Kinross has a good reputation, and not too far, so well worth consideration. I'd vote for it!
