Volunteers required for the Senior Pairs Open on Friday 11th August 2023

Volunteers are required to help run the Centre Senior Pairs Open on Friday 11th August 2023.

Sign up sheets are on the Centre notice boards and you can sign up for a few hours or all day.

Raffle prizes would also be gratefully accepted for the day.

The Club receives 50% of the monies to help us run our competitions, etc. so it would be great if you can support us..

Updated Senior Order of Merit and Eclectic Data

 Here is an update on the Senior season so far. This information is available on the Senior Notice Board in the Centre. Check out how you compare?

 

ECLECTIC. How good are you at each hole? , what could be your best round ever if you played each hole at your best?, then check your Eclectic score. e.g Gary McLuskey leads the Senior Eclectic for rounds in the Summer Season. For his 9 counting rounds he has a score of 59.          GREAT GOLF.

 

Senior Order of Merit Table 2023, based on all Senior Summer Season Thursday events - (1st = 10 points, 2nd = 9 points etc)

Chris Upton 45 points

Bill Morton 35 pts

Neil Nicholson 34 pts

 

Best Senior Gross Player 2023 - then the top Three for Total Gross scores in Strokeplay Monthly Medal and Trophy events has -

William Sinclair on 35 points, 

Chris Upton on 33 pts

Gary McLuskey also 33 pts.

 

Best Senior Nett Player 2023 - Top Three for Total Nett scores in Strokeplay Monthly Medal and Trophy events has -

Neil Nicholson on 20 points,

Callum Shaw on 16 pts,

Donald Gemmell, Fred Barber, James Ure, Sandy Clark and Brian Forrest on 15 pts. 


As we head towards the end of the season, then get your qualifying rounds in to boost your score.

Results for the Senior July Monthly Medal on Thursday 27th July 2023

 42 players booked and 39 played over morning and lunch tee times. The earlier starters seemed to get the better weather with constant light drizzle, little breeze and quite warm.

 

Division One - 22 players.

1st - Tom Buckham with a 68 (he had a nine on one hole) winning £11.00

2nd - Fred Barber 69 £7.00

3rd - Scott Murray 70 BIH £4.00

 

Division Two - 17 players.

1st - Stewart Baillie 70 £8.50

2nd - John Stewart 71 BIH £5.50

3rd - Gordon Wood 71 £3.00

 

Two's - 4 were recorded with all winning £4.80. (20p carried to this)

4th - Fred Barber and Tom Wallace.

13th - Gordon Wood and Tom Buckham.


Mr Consistent for the day was Bill (give us a break) Morton with 9 x 5's on the back nine !!!!!!!!!!!!

Results for Senior Convenor Day on Thursday 20th July 2023.

 Out of the 36 bookings, there were 34 players in the "SHAMBLES". The Seniors enjoyed the new format and the only thing that was a shambles were some of the scorecards. All teams beat par so great scoring.


The winning team, with a score of 114 was - Donald Nairn, John Doe and Sandy Ogg. All win £7.50 sweep plus a bottle of wine.

Runners up with a 124 was - Mike Stiell, John Stiell and Neil Nicholson, all win £3.80. (A 118 was presented but on checking the maths it was a 126)

 

Spot prizes of a bottle of wine was - Best Gross score - 78 Mike Stiell, 

Nearest pin on the 6th - Donald Nairn. 

Nearest the pin in Two on the 10th - Ian Ballantyne. (all see Keith for the wine before he drinks it)

 

Thirteen Two's were registered - £1.30 each

4th - Donald Nairn, Chris Upton and Paul Lothian.

6th - Donald Nairn, Sandy Ogg, Keith Ewan and Stewart Baillie.

13th - New Senior Gavin Greig, Stewart Baillie, Ian McLeod, Neil Nicholson and John Stewart.

17th - Ian Cameron.


An apology was transmitted to the Junior Committee for some of our Seniors marking their names for nearest pin and Drives on the Junior Open markers!!!!!!!!

Senior Convenor Day - Thursday 20th July 2023

Spot prizes available as well as the normal Sweep and Two's for this Fun Event. 

Format to be a "Shambles" - where you select the best Drive, (as in a Scramble), but then play your own ball till you complete the hole as an individual. Best two scores in the threeball count towards the Team score.

Seniors to receive a Pie, beans and chips lunch after your round.

Results for the Senior Peter Tinker Trophy on Thursday 13th July 2023

 34 Seniors booked and 31 actually played.

The best Nett score with a 67 (11 pars and one birdie) and the winner of the Trophy is Jack Scott.

Division One had 16 players -

1st - 67 Jack Scott winning £8.00

2nd - 70 Mark Tinker £5.30

3rd - 71 Norman Dyce (not in Sweep)

4th - 72 John Doe £2.70


Division Two - 15 players

1st - 69 BIH Neil Nicholson £7.50

2nd - 69 Donald Gemmell £5.00

3rd - 70 Derek Gordon £2.50


Two's - only one was recorded on the 13th by Donald Nairn £15.50
