Club AGM
For those of you who could not make the AGM last night I attach a brief summary of those points that directly affect the seniors.
1) John Brand will take over responsibility for the running of the section with immediate effect, he will not however attend gents committee meetings unless there is a point for discussion which materially affects the Seniors' Section.
2) Ian Scott will assist John by acting as 'Match Secretary' for our encounters with other clubs. Peter Tinker will also lend a hand.
3) Attendance at Seniors' events over 2010 was more or less in line with 2009 at 20 per competition. There were 29 competitions organised and played in 2009, including the AWAY DAY at Thornton. We lost 4 competitions due to bad weather.
4) 65 golfers from the club participated in these events and also 2 guests at Thornton. While up from 60 in 2009 it was pointed out that 22 golfers participated in 3 or less competitions compared with 11 in 2009.
5) A further 2 players participated in the knock out Singles competition but not in any other competition, similarly 2 players represented the Seniors in a single club match with no other show.
6) Over the course of the year 30 players represented the section in inter club matches of which we won 6, drew 2 and lost 4. Of special satisfaction the wins away v Alyth and Aberfeldy and the draw at home v Perth where Jack Rough gleaned a vital half against a team of two from Perth.
7) We had 6 new faces in 2010 of which 4 played only once.
8) The Prize Winners for 2010 were:
Medals : April and June - Jim Dunnett; May - Gordon Wood; July - Rob Kidd*; August and October - Ian Scott; September - Ken MacLeod
Tinker Trophy - Gilmour Ivey
Nick Farr Trophy - Lowest Gross - Sandy Robertson : Highest Stableford Points - Rob Kidd*(same tournament as above)
Away Day - Thornton - The Ian Mollison Trophy for Lowest Gross - Sandy McGibbon; The Mike Dower Trophy for Highest Stableford Points - Dave Kerr
Knock Out Tornaments:
Doubles - Alan Morrison and Ken MacLeod;
Singles - The Alistair McLachlan Trophy - Peter Tinker
Those prize winners who missed the AGM should check out with the shop and pick up any winnings that may have accrued to them.
9) Centre Subscriptions for 2011
After having kept subscriptions at the same levelfor 2 years the Centre is increasing the subscriptions for all members by 3% for 2011.HOWEVER, IF YOU PAY THESE BEFORE THE 31ST OF DECEMBER 2010 THE 3% INCREASE WILL NOT APPLY - 3% return in a month is a pretty healthy return so worth taking it up.
10) Management stated that rumours circulating in the community that Strathmore Golf Centre has been sold to new owners, or will be in the near future are completely unfounded. The show goes on next year as today.
THE YEAR END TURKEY TROT LIST FOR PARTICIPATION HAS BEEN POSTED ON THE BOARD AT THE CLUB HOUSE. THE DATE IS THE 16TH OF DECEMBER AND THE FORMAT IS AS IN PREVIOUS YEARS. IF YOU HAVE NOT PUT YOUR NAME DOWN ALREADY PLEASE DO SO TO ENSURE THAT THE FESTIVE SEASON STARTS WITH AS LARGE AN ATTENDANCE AS POSSIBLE.

Start of the Winter season
The winter season started with a novelty - 3clubs and a putter at the winter tee time of 10.00am.
Unfortunately, rather inclement weather at the start proved too much for some of the players registered for the event and out of a field of 15 entrants only 8 completed the course.
first place went to Ernie Wastell with 34 points with Ken MacLeod 3 shots back in second place.
Tee times for those who completed the round were:
10.00 John Brand, Ian Scott, Ernie Wastell
10.07 Phil Upperton, John MacFarlane
10.15 George Allan, Ken MacLeod, Ian Strachan, Alex Sutherland
